I think it might be that .smc is a more common file type, if the youtuber doesn't specifically state that you have to have .smc I'd recommend still trying to use .sfc instead.

I'm a complete newbie trying to play some Super Mario World ROM hacks. I came across this video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v8s8u_8CvA. He says to download .smc ROMS and not .sfc ROMS, which is what this website has. Is there a good place like this to download SNES ROMS that are .smc?
