No-Intro and Redump keep private databases, not making them publicly downloadable so they can't be DMCA'd. It's still possible they could get shut down if a rights holder is persistent enough to pursue legal action against them, but as long as they aren't sharing ROMs then the games companies don't have much incentive to do that.

So the games haven't been completely lost then? We need to do more digging to make absolutely certain of this. Evil greedy corpos taking games into their grubby mitts and not letting go is pure malice incarnate. We need to make sure these games are 100% preserved.
