Well, I've actually written a novel from beginning to end since you last posted. I began work on it some time in 2015, IIRC. It's in the rough draft phase right now.
The novel is set in the 1920s and 1930s, and it's about a good-hearted orphan girl ("Dottie") who marries a gangster. When the two of them marry, she's 18 while he's 15. That creates more than one unique situation.
The novel is kind of dark. She checks out of the orphanage in 1931. If you're aware of what life for the orphans was like in the Great Depression, then you'll know that this novel is not for the faint of heart.

I just checked some past pages on the message board. It looks like I posted pretty much this exact topic like 4 1/2 years ago, so if nothing else, we should be good to go for having this exchange again around mid-2022.
