Mac ports and Flash versions also exist. To truly find the "best" port, I'd recommend downloading standalone entries of each game rather than the repackaged complete trilogy.
Zork has been around long enough that you might find scripts of each game ... and that you can run each script through an interpreter. This might expand the ways in which the game can be played.
You can find the Mac ports here, but I haven't been able to test the Mac versions:
