SMG Game Crash

I was playing the game trying to unlock Luigi when I came across the level "King Kaliente Spicy Return" causes my game to crash. Without that Grand Star I can't beat the game (fully). Is anyone else experiencing this? and can anybody help me fix it so I can play as Luigi?
