nkit required to download console versions of wii

So you need nkit to download a Wii iso file playable on the Wii console, but there is only download instructions for Windows.
gbatemp implies that nkit should work on mac but there is no mac-compatible nkit download.
Is there any way to lift the restriction on downloading direct .iso files for people who are on macs and can't get nkit?
