That's what I was using and no response. I don't know what you mean by IIRC. I tried it out of Dos Box and it was working fine with the arrow keys it's not responding in Dos Box which is what you said I need to use to sprite rip sob.
Either the arrow keys or the keys on the keypad will get the marker to move around the menus. IIRC, the movement of the menus depends on whatever keys you have the NES controllers set for. I can't be sure though, since I haven't used the emulator in forever.
