Re: New Zelda!

I personally don't see the point. Everyone who wants a GameCube already has one, so why release Zelda at all? It would be much more effective if they positioned it as a Revolution launch title instead. Now THAT would sell hardware, would it not? Besides, I didn't really like Wind Waker much anway. It was new and refreshing at first, but once the novelty wore off I kept waiting for the challenge to begin. Yeah... still waiting.... Instead they went with the tried and true programmer's hide and seek, where the game programmer hides items and you have to find them. If this weren't a Zelda game I never even would have finished it.
I'm starting to lose my faith in Nintendo. Sure, I agree that graphics are more important than gameplay, but I don't see that as a reason to limit your potential (a-la Revolution). The question recently came to me, what game has Nintendo made on the GameCube that could not be made identically on the PS2 or XBox? The answer? None. Heck, given the superior power of those systems they could potentially have been made BETTER on them. Another question, how many games have been released on GameCube that aren't also on other systems? Barely any. Really I wouldn't be bothered at all if Nintendo went the route of SEGA and dropped their console line altogether. Whether I'm playing Zelda on a PS2 or a GameCube makes no difference to me.
I'm hoping that unique hardware truly is the route Nintendo is taking with the Revolution. If they have a system which can make games that CANNOT be made identically on other consoles, then I'd have a reason to buy their system. Of course if it really is just a controller and it actually is popular, Sony and Microsoft can just slap their own version on the market like Sony did with the N64. Bye bye unique hardware. If it's not truly unique, my wallet says he'd much rather Nintendo just scrapped the Revolution so I didn't have to waste my money on it just to play Nintendo's games.

Hey everybody! Long time, just wanted to say that I'm doing well-- up at school in my third year of Pol.Sci (International Relations) and Comm Studies at Kent State. It's been awhile since I've done anything in the emulation scene or even with my websites. I still play NES games and enjoy them... as for new games, I'm waiting on the new Zelda for Gamecube :). It's been delayed now, but what does everybody think of it? (Assuming you've seen the previews for it). I enjoyed Wind Waker, but it was fairly easy. I'm really looking forward to a challenging and interesting game next year. Peace all
