Thanks for the help, I'm new to this. Also, do you know if it is a specific ROM type that needs to be used, or is it any gamecube ROM?

Well, technically speaking, nintendont is not an emulator, but rather a sort of "hack/bridge" to play GC games with wii IOS. The emulators listed on this site are more for PC than anything else.
Now, Nintendont is able to read .nkit.iso files, you just need to rename the file to game.iso and put it in the appropriate folder (see this guide, section "Game on SD Card" for more details: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendont.349258/).
If the .nkit.iso format is giving you trouble, you can always convert it back to a .iso using the nkit+gc_partitions package from the vault (just open the GUI for Convert and it should be straightforward from there).
