Yeah I got it to work and I am using the same emulator but when I finally get a second party member and then go to equip something to them the game always freeze. Anybody knows why or what to do about it.
Can you provide more info? How far did you progress? What emulator are you using?

I'm using Zsnesw. The menu won't load until after the opening scene in Bowser's Castle when you're booted back home. Maybe your X or Y button isn't programed to where you think it is?
