No Resident Evil for the SNES

I believe the PC and PS1 started the Resident Evil/Biohazard  franchise.  There is a game called Biohazard for the NES, either an unlicensed or homebrewed game (hard to say, but I lean towards the latter), but its certainly a far cry from the version we're used to.  Also it's only in Japanese.

I really can't think of an SNES alternative to Resident Evil.  There's Clock Tower, a survival horror game that has been translated into English, but that's not an Action-Shooter.
