Best of luck with that, its good to see someone interested in taking emulation to the next level and pass the classics onto the next generation. Unfortunetly I don't know anything about modding a system nor have I found any info about how to do it.
FOr those who would be interested in playing retro games away from their PCs, there are plenty of emulators for snes/nes/genesis/atari that can be played on other consoles. If you have a mod chip or Game Enhancer for Playstation 1, you can get a good NES emulator. I think the Dreamcast could emulate nes, snes, and a few older consoles without any modding. I hear SNES-Station allows SNES games to be played on the SNES with either a modchip or through an ELF launching program. I think the Gamecube has an SNES emulator, although I have no idea how you load it, through a memory card maybe? With Flash cart hardware the Nintendo DS has dozens of emulators including snes, nes and genesis. A PSP with custom firmware can run NES, SNES, and Genesis smoothly and I hear the N64 emulator runs pretty good too.
Or you could build a PC in a Console casing and just emulate them all
NES-PC
okay. I want to take my old SNES and modify it into an emulator box that uses an 8GB USB flash drive for it's memory so I can switch games if I need to. anyone that has SNES schematics and info, or wants to join me in this project lemme know.
I figured this would be a fairly simple and fun project as well as would make great gifts for kids. no child should have to live without Super Metroid.
