Maybe it is the Firestick. I haven't tried Duckstation. Is that a core I could add to Retroarch somehow or is that some standalone emulator?

I have to think it's an issue with the Fire Stick then. They're not the most powerful devices. Have you tried Duckstation for Android instead of using Retroarch?
