It's an open-source project, meaning anyone can make their own version of it and upload it. The creator asks that you get written permission from them before doing this, but without either bringing in lawyers or making the project closed-source, it's not like they can do anything to stop unauthorized copycats.

I downloaded it from the AppStore, so I thought it was the official release.
