Just download Foxfire internet browser and use that to download from. just make sure you click no when it asks you if you want the settings from interent explorer to be applied to foxfire.

IIRC, many versions of Vista were reported to have a bug where regular downloads are registered as "auto-download" even when they're not. I'm afraid there's not much you can do to fix the problem until SP1 For Vista comes around. :-(
