I think part of the confusion is in where the Switch is positioned - it's basically a Gen 8.5 console in how it has straddled both eras of gaming. If the Switch is considered the first Gen 9 console, then the Switch 2 would be the first Gen 10 console by that logic. However, if the Switch is considered the last Gen 8 console that simply lasted longer than the others in the market, then the Switch 2 is simply a Gen 9 latecomer.

For what it's worth, Wikipedia lists the Switch 2 as belonging to Gen 9.

I assume you mean eighth gen, as 7th gen consoles are already on the site. As answered in the FAQ, to be added, a console must be at least 2 gens old to be added. the Eighth gen is not.
