ah that makes sense. issues that could not be fixed with a simple patch an so next batch of disc got the update
Redump lists two variants of DAO:UE, 1.0 and 1.01. The 1.0 variant had a glitch that prevented installation of one of the DLCs, and the 1.01 variant was patched to fix this glitch.
I don't know for sure, but I suspect these version numbers specifically track revisions of the physical disc and do not always reflect the software revision on the disc.
