i've had a lot of success with Parallel Launcher/Parallel64. It runs well, lets you organize ROMs into groups, and even lets you emulate an SD card for homebrew games & mods like Mario Builder 64. You can also easily set up controllers with it, a big benefit compared to using Retroarch.

which one have you tested and confirm has the best quality of life features (savestates, cheats, so on)? i remember a emulator running donkey kong 64 was really eh cause the games rendering distance on a certian gun switch, i cant remember which one but i do recall it having easy to acess cheats.
