Separating different game releases

As an example: Mass Effect for the xbox 360 has 3 major releases. The original release in 2007 aswell as the limited collectors released at the same time.
Then later in 2009 the platinum hits or best seller version, with included dlc on one disc.
Then in 2012 the trilogy boxset where Mass Effect a?so released again, but this time the dlc was omitted.
My point is that if there were to be a more accurate nameing of these releases unintended consequenes would not happen by picking the wrong version. My suggestion would be to name the releases according to year and the release type (original, platinum hits etc.)
I fully understand if this is not possible, if not I recommend checking the year to ascertain which version of any iso you want if there are several different releases available :-)
