its not donations that get you into a legal bind its charging money for high speed downloads, i have experience in the rom scene and have avoided lawsuits in the past.

The way I've heard it, direct donations expose Vimm to unnecessary legal scrutiny, so they're unlikely to be implemented any time soon.
