The format change shouldn't affect how the games run in emulation. The change is only really important for consistency with file format standards and for preserving small details in how discs were printed.
I downloaded the entire Dreamcast ROM catalog back in 2025 (including ROMs with the .gdi extension); do I need to re-download the newly organized ROMs (without the .gdi format) from scratch so the games run more smoothly on the Dreamcast emulator?
