Thank you so much; you have no idea how much I’ve been thinking about this, and I didn’t know what to do. I really appreciate your help.

Vimm uses Redump to automatically verify its files. Redump has been in the process of switching over from GDI to BIN/CUE for a while now, and they are finally discontinuing GDI, meaning for Vimm to continue verifying its files, it will need to switch over to BIN/CUE as well.

You do not need to redownload anything. GDI files work perfectly fine and should give you no issues.

Redump is switching because the way they used GDI is a bit hacky and not officially supported by the GDI file format standard. They have also found that they can get more accurate dump records with BIN/CUE, capturing low-level disc details better. This is not relevant to those who just want to emulate games, though.
