You are correct. My wired 360 controller worked right out of the box. It is by far the best PC gaming controller out there.

I think one of the best controllers for any console has been the Xbox 360 controller. If you get one with the plug and play charger and download the drivers you could probably use that for emulators or your other PC gaming needs.

Microsoft drivers

I think if you have a Wired Xbox 360 controller then you might not even need the driver.
