Apparently, the Gameboy Color version was being produced, then canceled in favor of a GBA version. Links I've found so far include the official cancellation of the GBC version:

I'll check it out. I've only unveiled versions for the Atari Falcon (whatever that is) and Windows OS so far, but I have read that there's others. :-)
What might have happened was that the ROM of an incomplete prototype was dumped, much like Tyrian 2000 for GBA.
