Help with N64 Emulation

I have downloaded the Mupen64Plus emulator for windows and I downloaded a game, but I have no idea how this emulator works, its different than the nintendo and super nintendo. How do I use this emulator and how do I place my game as a rom? I need step by step instructions, please help! Thanks!
