Depending on what I'm playing, I use either a PS2 controller or a N64 controller with one of those adaptoid USB adapters. You can get them for next to nothing on eBay.
Yeah I like using the xbox360 controller as well. In my opinion it is the best controller ever designed. I have heard some people having problems with the 360 controller and certain N64 emulators, but I have seen simple tutorials out there that help setting it up. I don't play N64 games so I don't really know anything about it though.
