Re: How many are still here from way back?

Dhaos - The SNES ROM ban was many years back; either in the early 2000s or late 1990s. The SNES ROMs were restored when it was clear to Vimm that other sites had maintained SNES ROMs for a while (including SM World) without trouble from the IDSA (as my memory serves, anyway). From what I remember though, the SNES ROMs still went off and on the Vimm server several times, namely due to server maintenance issues.
Vimm also posted server problems related to his OS. In 2002 or 2003, he said he "upgraded" to Windows 2002, and was left with the choice of the server working one of two ways - One in which all downloads auto-marked themselves as "complete" after thirty seconds, or succeeding in loading any and all data about 50% of the time. Not an ideal situation, IMO. Nevertheless, the problem was resolved several months later.

I didn't know the IDSA banned the ROMs here. When did that happen? And how did it stop? I thought NES was here alone first and SNES came a year or two later. I think my earliest memory of the site is Before and After shots of Jigsaws restoration of Elevator Action for the NES. Where'd those go?
