I, too, doubt that it was the game that caused the problem but I'll play along. You could install Sandboxie and run the emulator from there. If anything did go wrong it should have no effect outside of the sandbox. Also, browse the Internet sandboxed for added safety.
Alternately/additionally, have a recovery plan and be prepared to use it.
On XP I use a payware imaging program (free alternatives are available that are likely comparable). It restores my PC to a clean state in about 13 minutes. As long as personal data is also backed up, no fear.

You know the game Bubsy for the SNES? I love that game, I had it when I was little, and I found it from your site years ago but... I don't know if it was a coincidence or what but... every time i used the rom from here, and got to a later level (I would play every once and a while but save where I was, so it would take a couple months for me to get there) but when i got there, my computer would screw up to the point I had to format (Not WHILE I was playing it, but in general) Now I have a new computer, and I would really like to play it again, but I don't want to screw up a new comp, but then again I don't think you'd have a bad rom on your site, I was just wondering if you knew any reason why it could be the rom, or if it had to be coincidence?
