Pokemon Ruby/Emerald/Sapphire

I haven't been able to get any of these to work, and have downloaded the VBA-M from your site, and also tried an older version of VBA I had from an earlier time in my ROM playing career. They will both open other GBA games like, Megaman Zero series, and pokemon fire red and leaf green. But none of the ones in my subject line. Is there something wrong with these files? Or perhaps is there a setting I Don't have selected? All that appears is a white screen after it says "Loaded Battery" 

Another Issue I have is VBA-M seems to not save any controls I enter using my USB controller. Every time I restart I have to re-enter my settings. Just wondering if this was normal...
