I just re-downloaded Project64, the last time I used it there wasn't adware and I wasn't expecting any. By the time the installation was complete, Malwarebytes had already quarantined an .exe from AppData. I just pressed next obliviously, because I figured an Emulator dev (especially a popular one like P64) wouldn't do something like that. :\
I'd recommend contacting the author of the emulator, asking him if packaging your own installer would be okay. If he says no, link to the download page on their website, but warn users it has adware in it.
It'd be nicer of the dev to put a simple Donate button somewhere on the installer and maybe in the About window, not bundling adware with a legitimate piece of software. Oh well.

The more I think about it, the more I favor a custom installer. Getting a virus alert would shake someone's trust in Vimm's Lair (rightly so) and that's unacceptable. If the author objects I could provide a link to his download page or simply remove Project 64 altogether.
