Sounds like you ROM is jacked. What a frustrating level for this to happen on, too- the difficulty of the level (hardest in game?) and it being only 2 levels away from the end. That's not the last level before the final battle, though you do see Donkey Kong tied up at the end of it, then they fly him away. Then Squack "races" you to King K Rool 69. No worries though, you probably couldn't beat K.Rool anyway.

I am having problems advancing past Toxic Tower. When I jump on the end-of-level target the game acts as if I have just died and doesn't let me advance to the final battle. Instead, the Toxic Tower level icon stays as a crocodile and when I re-enter it, I am at the checkpoint barrel. No matter how many times I hit the end of level target I can't advance.

I also cannot enter the bonus level of Toxic Tower. Once I get in the BONUS barrel, I am exited from the level and I have to start all over from the checkpoint barrel again.

does anyone know what is wrong?
