Actually, the problem is not the machine itself, but rather the obsolete modem I've got. It runs the type of driver that was only used back in the Win95 days. The kind of routines it uses are so obsolete, they seem to be interpreted as virus activity by NAV nowadays. Only after thorough examination of the driver's actions does NAV finally let the modem do it's thing, so I'll get several disconnects in three hours, and finally a crash from the modem's driver.
The solution to this problem is simply to get a newer, less problematic modem. It's put on my Christmas list, so if I don't get it as a present, I'll just buy a new one. No big deal.
Anyway, I'm very sorry for that rude post I gave you yesterday. I'd actually had to reconnect twice before posting it, so my modem driver was getting on my nerves at the time. :-(

I've got $5. We need to raise a little bit more to get something 5x as fast as what Tricob's has. His computer almost had a stroke after installing WindowsXP (it obviously just came out of DOS 2.5) Tricob, if your computer has a USB port we will also get you a "mouse". Also they sell monitors now that only take 2.5 hours to warm up instead of your 3, so we'll also get you one of those. We'll also make sure the comp we buy you runs off of electricity instead of coal. If anyone has any other ideas, please feel free. Tricob, let us help you.
