Can't remember name of game....help...

All I can remember is that it is about some phycho like guy that has been chained up in like a prison and then escapes. You have to try and get out of the town without getting killed by the town people or dogs or whatever. I remember it being a hard game when I was about 8 years old...But I just can't remember the name...at all...Help?
Some more details: The phycho man escaped and has only a cain or stick for a weapon. Town people come after him when they see him and attack him with pitch forks and sick their dogs on him.
If anyone knows what i'm talking about please tell me the name...OR just give me some names of games you think i'm talking about...
