I haven't played Odyssey yet, but I gotta say that as of now I can't name a single platforming game that felt as magical as both the Galaxy games.
They really outdid themselves with these two games. From the graphics although the Wii itself had poor visual output, the games look like CURRENT GEN when played as low as 720p on Dolphin) to the masterful atmosphere (created by both the amazing soundtrack and the compelling visuals), to the joyful gameplay.
It seems that Super Mario 64 was the title responsible for convincing Gabe Newell that video games are art. Well, if Mario 64 is "art", then what should we call the Galaxy games?

I might have to say Mario Odyssey is my favorite, though Mario Galaxy 2 and Mario World are very close
