But the reason I mentioned PCSX2 is because I thought you were talking about MGS2
I just use a regular PS1 emulator for PS1 games
As far as I know it can play some PS1 titles, yes. I'm not sure how well though, I've never tried it
PCSX2 emulates the PS2 and the PS2 was able to play PS1 games
