i checked that captain obvious it all checks out, that is not the problem.

* You may have accidently turned off the sprite layer.
I believe the default keys to turn on and off the layers are the numbers 1-5 above your keyboard. Number 5 should be the sprite layer. When you press any of these numbers a messege will pop up like "Background Layer 1 off" and some stuff will dissappear (or reappear). (I forget what the exact messege is.) Just press the number again to toggle the layer on / off.
You can check custom keys somewhere if these keys don't affect layers.
