Im stuck on the first screen of the game

Im rather new to emulators still and i recently Pcsx2 on here to play some ps2 games but everytime when i try to play a game on the emulator there seems to be problem. I got gta 3 one time i tried it out and after the opening credits of the game were over it just got stuck in the loading screen not playing the intro of the game. I got half life on ps2 and it has a similar problem to it. Im lost at this point can somebody tell me why this happens?
