Controller Problem

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the emulator Project 64 to use a controller with 2 analogue sticks. I noticed in the config that the sticks only act as the direction pad or the 4 buttons on the right side of the controller. I want to know if there is a way to get the emulator to detect the stick as separate parts of the controller config so I can get a few more roms for the N64 that I know use the analogue stick on the N64 controller not the direction pad. ANy suggestions or as to how to solve this would be awesome!
