In the meanwhile try out the megathread from the Reddit subbreddit r/roms here -> https://r-roms.github.io/
In my experience personally I was totally safe and didn't catch a virus, and as long as you know how to download from archive.org you should be good dude.

On the page for metal gear solid 4 it says "Download unavailable at the request of the Entertainment Software Association". Is this permanent?
