Got a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and checked the 2017 release out. Copyright text claimed "1996 Nintendo"; this is consistent with the screenshot from Vimm.
Regardless, both Wikipedia and SNES Nintendo Switch Online home screen claimed the release date to be 2017, so 2017 should be the correct date.

Star Wing 1 is EU version. NO version 2 but I do have German and Weekender versions if needed.
