Chrono Trigger issue - changing characters

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me out with this one - I'm probably forgetting something obvious. I'm at 'The Fated Hour' where Chrono gets brought back to life and the old man at the end of time tells you about all the side quests. I have Chrono, Marle, and Ayla in my group but I can't change that group for some reason since all the other characters do is talk abotu their own subquests. Is there another way to change characters?
