Problem w/ Super Mario RPG

So I've tried both of the emulators that's listed on the site for SMRPG, and I'm having the same problem. When I hold down the run button and make him go diagonal (so pressing the right and up key) there is one or two directions that I can't use when holding down the run button. Everything else works fine, but I can't figure out why it's doing that...rather annoying.
And yes, I did get the rom from here. Any suggestions?
