Slight Correction

Just a side note from Wikipedia, Flashback is often mistaken as the sequel to Out of this World/Another World, an earlier Delphine Work. It also had a lackluster sequel for the PSX & PC called Fade to Black. Flackback Legends, which was going to be a GBA exclusive was never released, although a French beta copy of the ROM made its way onto the internet.
This doesn't help you in any way, but I thought someone might find it interesting.
I'm pretty sure there was only one version of Flashback for Genesis, and every system, unless the US version (in which The Quest for Identity sub-title is added) was different than the Japanese or European version. It was also released for the Sega CD, maybe that's the one you're thinking of since the site you listed seems to talk more about the Sega CD version of the game than the regular version.
Also, Is there any difference between the Genesis and SNES version of the game?
