How is Smurfs educational? We don't even know what a Smurf is? Are they mammals or insects? I mean seriously, a society based around only one female indicates insect like bees, but Papa Smurfs beard and Gilgamesh's strong desire to eat them leans towards mammal. I find it unique that Super Bomberman 3 was released in Europe but not in the US. Were sales of SB 1 and 2 not good enough in the US but were strong in Europe? And does that mean SB 3 wasn't popular enough in Europe for them to obtain SB 4 and 5 from Japan? Also, in Terranigma (I think its the only PAL exclusive RPG) I believe they make the claim that hamburgers originated in the US. Sort of odd considering that, as the word Hamburger implies, its really a European creation. The only thing Americans might have done to it was put it between two pieces of bread. Another Interesting note is that Lufia 1("Lufia & The Fortress of Doom") was never released in Europe, but Lufia 2 ("Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals") was under the name "Lufia" surely causing as much confusion as the Final Fantasy 2/4 & 3/6.

It's interesting that the Smurfs got their won game - and a sequel - released in the UK, but neither game made it to North America. My guess is that the little blue bundles were much more popular in Europe than in the U.S. at the time. That'd make sense, since in North America, the "careers" of these book-based creations were pretty much over in 1989.

The Smurfs *sort* of made a comeback in the U.S. three or four years ago, thanks to demands towards the networks to air some sorts of "educational" programming during certain time slots. I haven't heard of any recent Smurf releases, though.

BTW - Replies to your second post of this thread appear to be glitched. :-/
