Re: Windows Emulators error

Perhaps the Winzip self-extractor version I'm using isn't compatible with Vista. I'll check out the WinZip site and see if they have something newer.

I downloaded ZsnesW, Snes9x, Fce Ultra, and GENS emulators. They download as a .exe file, possibly for self-extraction, but when I run them I get an error titled "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem" points to a file called "S32evnt1.dll" which for some reason is/was in a Symantec folder and the message "An installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll initialization. Choose 'close' to terminate application." I can either 'Close' or 'Ignore' but both end up shutting down the program.

If I change the file extenstion from .exe to .zip I can extract the files and the emulators seem to work fine (although I do get an error "unexpected end of archive" but that doesn't seem to hurt it).

Is anyone else getting this error? Is this the same as what other people have been complaining about? I'm running Windows XP, all the above emulators were Windows version.

Here are some alternative links for ZsnesW/Snes9x/GENS and Nestopia. These are in .zip format.

ZsnesW 1.51
Snes9x 1.51 windows
Zsnesw 1.51 mirror 1
Snes9x 1.51 Windows mirror 1
Nestopia 1.37 windows
Nestopia 1.37 windows mirror 1
Gens 2.14 Windows
Gens 2.14 Windows mirror 1
FCE Ultra .98.12 windows
FCE Ultra .98.12 windows mirror 1
I should point out that half these links I stole from other sites.
