Considering the DMCA takedown requests came from the ESA and Markmonitor, which are established organizations with a specific interest in copyright protection and monitoring, there's no good reason to believe it's a troll.

Whoever did this was sloppy as hell. Tons of big IPs are still here and a bunch of non-English versions of them are still up. As are spin-offs, collections, and that's not mentioning all the inconsistencies when it comes to who sent the takedown requests. I'm suprised Nintendo only asked for a take down when they have always gone scorched earth on sites like this in every other case. No, this smells of a troll.
