Do you mean how do you get Linux, or how you use Proton? Proton is a compatibility layer for Windows games created by Valve, and while I would say running games through Steam is the easiest way to use it on Linux, you can also use third-party launchers like Lutris that feature Proton compatibility. As for Linux, that's an umbrella term for many different open-source operating systems. If you want to try it out, there are plenty of guides online for dual-booting Linux and Windows or booting Linux from a flash drive.
