This is a glitch in emulation, as the ROM is copy-protected.  V1.1 of the ROM will work properly in ZSNES.  Vimm's Lair carries v1.0 of the ROM.

while im playing it itll end the stage and i won the battle before it starts or itll just stop and go back too the stage selection
