I heard Six Flags America is closing this fall and the land being sold off for redevelopment. I'd visited a few times as a kid so I thought it'd be fun to say farewell. Overall the park was in better shape than I expected and I had a good time. As the park closed I went on the Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, pictured here:

Everything seemed normal until the ride was ending, when suddenly the music cut out and we came to a gentle halt still half-way up the tower. So there we were, dangling a hundred feet in the air with a lovely view of the (now closed) park, left solely to our imaginations why. After 10 or 15 minutes we finally got a shout from the ground that maintenance had arrived, and another 10 or 15 later we started inching to the ground. Happily nobody panicked, and in the end we were hanging for about half an hour. I asked a maintenance guy what happened and he confirmed my hunch the ride lost power. The park took everyone's contact info so we'll see if anything comes of that. Maybe they'll offer us season passes for next year! (yes, that's a joke)

It was sad saying goodbye but these weren't quite the parting memories I expected.

Farewell, Wild World / Adventure World / Six Flags America.
