OT - I remember making considerable progress with SML, but kept dying because I spent too much time in all those secret areas. I probably would've beat it like you did had I not tried to be so thorough with every level. But that's just the way I go through every level I really enjoy, no matter what game it might be. :-)

I did that with Super Mario Land on the Game Boy. Except it was the first time I had ever played it. not much replayability in a game you finish the first time you play it.
